Friday
Guys. Guess what. I'm posting something on friday. Not just for thursday. Yay! First, though, some background. I have seen this play before. My only problem is that when I saw it, I was REALLY young, so probably 7 or 8. So what I do remember from seeing it was people hiding in comical ways when people were having conversations that seemed to be secret. I often puzzled over just what that play was about as I got older. The play was called Much Ado About Nothing, written by the Great Thespian himself, William Shakespeare. I have recently seen the play (in video form) and finally realized what the heck was going on: There are two people named Benedic and Beatrice who ABSOLUTELY hate each other's guts and basically do nothing but fight whenever they're around each other. Thanks to some help from some friends and colleagues of Benedic and Beatrice, they become an unlikely couple.
What I remember from when I saw it (which was when a group of actors and actresses were doing something called "Shakespeare In The Park") was a guy and a girl hiding during different conversations. What I didn't realize was that the conversations were about the character who was trying not to be noticed by the people who were doing the talking (who of course noticed the person hiding and pretended not to.) But I happened to see a genius rendition done by two of my favorite BBC actors, David Tennant and Catherine Tate, and I quite liked it. It was set in modern times, but they still used the original script without a whole lot of modernization, which is sorta hard to understand with the first listen but it kinda starts to slowly translate in your brain as you listen to it again. So without further ado, here's a little clip that is my favorite: a disgruntled bachelor swearing off marriage in the most comical way possible. Kudos to David for being such a wonderful actor and putting his own spin to his character in the classic comedy that is Much Ado About Nothing. Happy Friday!
I'll try adding something sunday with Catherine Tate in it. I promise. Thanks for reading!
